My wife Shirley and I are volunteers at St. Vincent hospital in Portland, Oregon for the past 7 years.
One day about 4 years ago on my volunteer route, I met Courtney and her mother. I asked them if I could pray for them and discovered that her daughter Courtney has cancer. She has been battling cancer since she was 17 years old. Now 22, she continues to the fight this disease. As we got acquainted with each other, her mother shared with me their life situation that was so heartbreaking. They live in Washington State and Courtney has to commute 50 miles one way to do chemo. Her mother works so Courtney has to travel alone by bus or taxi to go for her treatment. In her frail state she does this alone every other day of the week. Unfortunately, her mother can’t be by her side whenever she goes to the hospital because she has to work so that she could have insurance for her daughter. Recently, they got informed from their insurance company that they will not cover the drug she needs to take for her cancer treatment. It cost $10,000k. They just cannot afford this cost of this medication.
My heart goes out to this family. I have known them for years and they are a loving and kind hearted family. This has been a tough journey but they are persevering the best they can. If I could afford to pay for Courtney’s medical expenses I would but I too live only my limited Social Security check. They are not the ones to ask for help but I felt led to help them. That is why I am reaching out to you. If you are being led to give, would you please pray-fully consider helping Courtney offset her medical expenses? Any amount will be a blessing.
We want to start a raising a small amounts and keep sending that to her and sharing with you updates.
All the proceeds will go directly for her medical bill. I will share with you updates and feedback on her condition.
Please continue to pray for Courtney and her family.
I thank you for taking the time to read this.
